RESOLVED: ICER has recovered from the power outage and all systems should be online and accessible.

UPDATE: 4:30pm 9/21/2026
The cluster is up and healthy. Some hardware from the outage will require more attention but most everything is up.
Please contact us if you notice anything wrong.

UPDATE: 11:30am 9/21/2026
Gateways, OpenOnDemand, and Globus access are enabled. Dev nodes are up. Usage should be back to normal on those. Continuing with the remaining cluster nodes.

UPDATE: 10:00am 9/21/2026
MSU Power is now stable and ICER can begin the process of returning to normal. We are currently in maintenance mode to test critical functions. User access is blocked during testing. Once we confirm internal stability, we will return the cluster back to production in sections starting with dev nodes. We will provide updates as this happens.

UPDATE: 10:30am 9/20/2026
As many of you know, the university experienced a widespread power outage that began last night. While power has largely been restored, there are significant ongoing challenges and ICER’s computing systems have been shut down in order to reduce power consumption and to avoid damaging equipment. We will resume normal operations as soon as possible; however, it is likely that this will not be until at least tomorrow (Monday, 9/21).

ICER is experiencing random errors due to a larger MSU Network Issue. We will continue monitoring the situation when the campus wired network is stable again.
